A busy year can get hard to scan when events from different projects pile up together. Event Grouping lets you decide how events are arranged on the calendar.
There are two modes.
Compact packs events tightly into the fewest rows. It’s the best fit for a dense overview, where the goal is to fit as much of the year on screen as possible. This is the default, and it’s available on every plan.
By category groups events from the same category into their own bands. It’s the better fit for reading a year by client, team, or project — each band stays one color, so the shape of each workstream is easy to follow across the months. By category is part of Premium.
The bands follow your category order, so the layout reflects how you’ve prioritized your work. Reorder the categories and the bands rearrange to match — move the category that matters most to the top, and its band leads the year. The same setting that controls the legend controls the calendar.
Inspired by a creative agency that uses AnuCal to track client work, Event Grouping started from a simple wish: to read a full year of overlapping projects without the colors blurring together.
You can switch anytime from the control at the right of the category bar. It’s a per-calendar setting, so each calendar can read the way that suits it.
